On June 7, 2021, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Patriarch-Catholicos of All Georgia met in Tbilisi the chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropoliran Anthony of Borispol and Brovary.
Metropolitan Anthony was accompanied by the vice-chairman of the UOC Department for External Church Relations, Archpriest Nikolay Danilevich. Present at the meeting were also Protodeacon Vadim Novinsky and Protodeacon Alexy Pertin, clerics of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
From the Georgian Orthodox Church there were Metropolitan Shio of Senaki and Chkhototsku, locum tenens of the Patrirchal See; Metropolitan Teodor of Akhaltsikhe and Tao-Klarjety; Metropolitan Gerasim of Zugdidi and Tsaishir, head of the Patriarchate of Georgia foreign department; Metropolitan Andrew of Gori and Ateni, as well as staff members of the Patriarchate.
In the course of the discussion, which was held in a warm, fraternal atmosphere, Metropolitan Anthony of Borispol and Brovary informed His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia about the real state of affairs in Ukrainian Orthodoxy. The discussed ways of further cooperation with the Georgian Orthodox Church.
On the same days, there was a meeting between th chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the locum tenens of the Patriarchal See, Metropolitan Shio.
